Reading balances without keeping a live tab open

A desk routine for capturing cold-wallet balances onto paper while the devices stay purposeful and brief.

An offline wallet tracker only works if the numbers on the page match what the device shows in the moment you write them. The temptation is to leave a phone portfolio open “for speed.” That habit often leads to unlocking devices more often than planned.

The routine we use at the desk

  1. Power one device
  2. Read the balances you care about for the reserve
  3. Write them on the tracker line
  4. Power down before the next device

No second screen mirrors the numbers. If a figure looks odd, we re-read the same device rather than consulting an exchange history.

Why it feels slow

It is slow. That is the point. Self-custody reserve positions are not day-trading books; a careful page beats a fast incorrect one.

After you leave

Update the same lines when you next power a device at home. Do not start a parallel spreadsheet that diverges within a week.
